Back Pain
Back pain, whether it’s lower back pain or mid back pain, is by far the most common reason someone comes to visit the Chiropractor. This is an issue that we deal with very successfully on a daily basis. So what causes it and how can we fix it?
What Causes Back Pain?
Back pain is often caused by a dysfunction (restriction and malposition) of one or more of the joints in your back. The pain usually comes from injury to the joints, muscles and ligaments within the back. This injury is normally caused by increased load which can come from a variety of things such as poor posture, previous trauma or activities that involve repetitive movements that put strain on the back. If the pain comes on after an activity or trauma and it doesn’t go away after stopping what you thought was causing it, this may suggest a mechanical issue that needs addressing.
In this video I go through what you can do at home if you have suddenly developed back pain or back spasms to get some immediate relief. If this doesn’t resolve, please do get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
Is My Back Pain Just A Muscular Problem?
When you get a dysfunction in the spine like this, the muscles surrounding the problem will often tighten up to compensate and they themselves can produce a lot of pain. Muscles will almost never tighten up for no reason and is often as a result of a mechanical issue within the spine. Therefore almost every back problem will cause a problem in the joints and muscles simultaneously however only one will be causing both.
This is also why many people report going for a massage for muscle tightness but only get short term relief. If this is you, then there’s likely an underlining issue in the mechanics causing the problem to return.
How Can a Chiropractor Help With Back Pain?
A Chiropractor is highly skilled to detect and correct these mechanical distortions to restore function and allow the body to heal again. By making corrections to the mechanics of the spine, this will take the pressure off the injured structure allowing it to heal. The body is a very good healer however when something is not healing, it’s a strong indicator there’s a problem. Chiropractors simply remove the interference to allow the body to heal again!

Low Back Pain - HELPED!
“I am walking because of Steve, and walking without pain! Now I come from a medical family, I sublux my joints mainly my wrists and ankles. I have seen all sorts of physios, osteopaths and chiropractors over the decades. Until now I have never found a good chiropractor. I told Steve what had happened during the accident, he assessed me, looked at the scans… the first thing he said was my pelvis WAS rotated out of place at my SIJs which was causing the pain and movement problems. He got it…. for the first time in 6 YEARS someone finally knew and understood!!!! In the last month since my first session I am almost pain free. I can stand. Sit. Walk. Thank you to Steve. You are on my short list go to of specialists, I definitely recommend you whole heartedly to anyone who needs your help.”
