Hip Arthritis
Hip Arthritis is a common condition among those above 50-60 years of age. The pain associated with hip arthritis typically presents in the buttock, side of the thigh, groin and sometimes can travel down the leg. This can make it very hard to walk or generally get around. So what causes this and how can we fix it?
What Causes Hip Arthritis?
This condition occurs when hip joint itself starts to wear out causing narrowing of the joint space and inflammation within the joint. This inflammation causes pain especially on walking and using the hip. The hip wears out due too much load/ pressure in this hip mechanically which over many years starts to wear. Like a car tyre, if it isn’t aligned properly you will get more wear and tear in certain areas of that tyre. So what can we do about this.

How Can A Chiropractor Help With Hip Arthritis?
Can Chiropractic help? The answer is yes in the majority of cases. This is something we as Chiropractors see very often and get good results with. There is always a reason why the wear and tear occurred in the first place and normally this is due to distorted mechanics in the spine, pelvis and hip itself. This causes more pressure on the hip, which when left over time, causes the hip to slowly wear out. A Chiropractor is highly trained to assess for mechanical distortions and to correct them. Therefore, depending on how severe the arthritis in the hip is, once you get the mechanics corrected, the pain can improve.
