Knee Pain
Knee Pain is a very common condition and one that the Chiropractor is very well equipped to deal with. Depending on the problem you have will depend on where the pain is in the knee and when the pain bothers you. Some conditions can be addressed quickly and some take longer. So what causes it?
What Causes Knee Pain?
The knee is a simple hinge joint with two primary movements, flexion and extension. Problems in the knee are rarely caused by just the knee alone and often the lower back, hips and ankles are involved too. As explained in my video, if the hip isn’t being controlled well then this means the alignment of your knee as you walk and run also isn’t being controlled well. With every step you take with a poorly controlled knee will cause injury to certain areas of your knee. This may increase over time especially if the problem isn’t sorted. Depending on where this pressure is being concentrated will depend on the type of condition you may develop.
In this video I go through in detail what causes knee pain and what you can do at home to get some relief from it. There are two common muscles that, if become weak, can cause knee pain. They are the quadriceps and the gluteal muscles. These are both muscles that are vital in providing the knee with proper control.
Common Knee Conditons
There are lots of conditions associated with the knee, some of the most common are Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (PFPS), Jumpers Knee (Patella Tendonitis), Knee Arthritis, Osgood-Schlatter Disease, Bakers Cyst, Meniscal Tears, Ligament Tears and many more. Each one of these conditions will have a different injury outcome. However more often that not, they are caused by a distortion in the way the knee is functioning. If this underlying cause isn’t addressed, often the problem will continue to persist or in some cases worsen. So what can you do about this?
How Can A Chiropractor Help With Knee Pain?
Chiropractors are highly trained to detect and correct mechanical dysfunctions to take the pressure off the knee and thus to reduce knee pain. The approach that Chiropractors take is very different to a lot of other professionals in the way we address the entire kinetic chain from your spine to your ankles.
If you have a knee problem, perhaps it hasn’t responded to previous treatment, please do get in contact as we get very good success this this type of issue.
